Student's Life

Teaching-Learning Environment

KU was a pioneer to introduce scientific and engineering projects from the very first year of UG curriculum. Hence, emphasis of KU on problem & practice based learning is evident. Over the years the curriculum has evolved introducing more intensive field work, internship, project works, community-based learning, etc., so that students have more practical learning environment. Academic life could be very demanding at KU but the fruit of learning with rigorous approach is evident as KU graduates are accepted worldwide. 

Teaching of courses in general comprises lectures and tutorials. Home assignments are given in appropriate frequency to ensure continuous self-learning and practice throughout the semester. Presentation and communication skill enhancement are emphasized through projects and assignments. Vocational skill and analytical skills are enhanced by workshop practices and practical works. Use of computers and software tools are deeply embedded into teaching and learning. Innovative ideas may be tested by students through project works. Students in UG have chances to participate in funded research projects in senior level to have an exposure to high quality research and development arena.

Teacher-Staff-Student Relationship

KU has always emphasized on being highly student friendly university. Therefore a high level of mutual respect is expected among all the members of the community. There exists an amicable relation between faculties, staffs, and students. Students shall not hesitate to contact concerned department, faculties and staffs for consultation regarding academics and student life. A counseling cell exists at the premises of CV Raman auditorium for counseling purpose.

Campus Environment

KU is located beautifully with excellent surroundings and views. The campus is quite and is an ideal place for study and research. Campus has various soothing spaces for breaks and socialization.

Extracurricular and Events

The School of Science organizes various extracurricular activities in various departments. These include seminars, work-shops, trainings, project exhibitions, magazine publications, etc. School of Science and students clubs in the central campus also organizes blood-donation program, sport events, tree-plantations, awareness programs, trainings, seminars, etc. Welcome and farewell programs are organized at various levels. Overall, there are numerous events organized all around the year in the campus.
